Hedd is our Executive Director. He looks after the day-to-day running of the business, covering governance, budgeting, marketing and HR, making sure the team are well supported. He oversees the production team to put on the finest world premieres of our wonderful new commissions and develops collaborative partnerships within the UK and around the world.

A brief history

Hedd grew up in Montgomeryshire and studied music at Newcastle, Salzburg and Bangor universities. He began his career as a dramaturg at Welsh National Opera before moving to Belgium to edit OperaVision, the European streaming platform for opera. After several years working in public affairs and engagement for the voluntary sector in South Korea and Wales, he returned to classical music to lead communications and marketing at Chetham’s in Manchester. Hedd joined BCMG as Executive Director in September 2025.

Fun facts

Hedd is a qualified lifeboat crewmember and has taken part in maritime search and rescue missions with the RNLI in the Bristol Channel and with Refugee Rescue in the Aegean Sea.
