BCMG thrives on ‘firsts’. Our core mission is to perform music for the first time, hence we commission new work, create new performance opportunities and run our popular Sound Investment crowd funding scheme.

Over time, the second performances have also proven key: how can we help a work to surpass the excitement of its birth, and continue its real life? This season we have the wonderful opportunity to tour Dai Fujikura’s Shō Concerto to Japan, sharing this important work with a new audience. Some of Julian Anderson’s eight songs for soprano and ensemble have had numerous individual performances up and down the country; as we premiere the two remaining songs in the first ever performance of his full Life Cycle in September, I am sure it too will enjoy ongoing attention.
