Ikon Gallery opens late and invites visitors to experience a memorable evening of music, discussion and sharing as they celebrate the end of their summer exhibitions, Thread the Loom and Seulgi Lee: SPAN. BCMG opens the event with a 30-minute concert of music for two percussionists, inspired by and reflecting on Selugi Lee's exhibition.

The Story of Maya

A musical grand tour of Bangladesh’s provinces and musical traditions as told through the eyes of an imagined female protagonist, Maya. The Story of Maya, written and created by Bangladeshi musician Neel Kamrul, is presented as part of BCMG’s ongoing Music In Dialogue series.
Life Cycle

At the heart of this concert is the world premiere of Julian Anderson’s Life Cycle — eight songs that explore themes of identity, memory, belonging, life, and death.
Awakening: BCMG in Tokyo

Presented during the CBSO’s tour of Japan as a pre-concert event, this concert offers Tokyo audiences a rare opportunity to hear genre-defying new music that draws inspiration from ancient Japanese traditions fused with contemporary classical music.
Bird Fanfares

David Hindley (1933-2018) - “a man who writes birdsong” - transcribed into musical manuscript the songs of birds, allowing these avian melodies to be perceived and appreciated by human ears in new ways. He was a pioneer of his field, bridging the worlds of science, technology, zoology and music. Our concert celebrates Hindley’s music, paired with other works inspired by birdsong from Olivier Messiaen.
